July 3 Meeting & Other Events!

As we move quickly through the summer, we have a lot of opportunities coming up this month:
1. This Saturday, July 1, at 10:00 am there will be a "Lost Boys of Sudan" screening at the KC Public Library at the Plaza (48th & Broadway). "Lost Boys" is a documentary that follows two Sudanese refugees on an extraordinary journey from Africa to America. Here in Kansas City there is a local organization for these refugees who live in the area. Come at 10am and learn more. www.lostboysfilm.com

2. This Monday, July 3, at 7:00 pm we'll have our local volunteer meeting at Jacob's Well Church in Midtown, 42nd & Wyoming, 3rd floor. THERE WILL BE NO MEETING JULY 17 (the third Monday) due to another event that you can read about next, so please come this Monday so we can discuss July's volunteer opportunities!

3. Monday, July 17, at Jacob's Well Church in Midtown, (instead of our usual meeting) we'll be attending a presentation by "Living Hope"-five guys traveling the country who are passionate about those affected by AIDS and want to convey the pressing urgency of this emergency. Likewise, we'll need some volunteers to man the ONE table at this event. www.lhbustrip.com

4. If you're interested in contacting local musicians or venues and distributing ONE literature for the "Summer of ONE," please contact Tim at sweeneytjs@yahoo.com.

5. Finally, the national ONE office has requested Kansas volunteers to target Senator Brownback as we move into an important time for Appropriations. We are particularly looking for faith leaders or people of faith who might be interested in speaking with the Senator (or his staff), since he is most affected by this group of people. Please contact me if you are willing to be a part of this! We're going to move on it fairly quickly.

Thanks! See you Monday!
